Health Care

Our Role

Nsawo Footprint aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by addressing these challenges through;

Mobile Clinics/camps

Delivering essential health services to underserved areas.

Mental Health Initiatives

Promoting culturally sensitive mental health support.

Telemedicine

Bridging healthcare gaps in remote regions through technology.

Access to healthcare is a cornerstone of sustainable development. Despite significant advances in global health, Black communities in Canada, Africa, and globally remain disproportionately affected by health inequities. Marginalized groups face higher rates of chronic illnesses, maternal mortality, and mental health challenges due to systemic discrimination, economic barriers, and under-resourced healthcare systems.

  • Sub-Saharan Africa bears 24% of the global disease burden but has only 3% of the world’s health workers (WHO).
  • In Canada, Black populations are more likely to report chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension due to social determinants of health (Public Health Agency of Canada).

Why It Matters

Healthcare inequities undermine individual and community well-being and exacerbate socio-economic disparities. Addressing these disparities not only saves lives but also boosts productivity and economic growth. Investments in healthcare have an average return of $4 for every $1 spent (Lancet Commission on Investing in Health).
