Program Coordinator – Food Security (Remote/On-Site)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Coordinator – Food Security to oversee, implement, and scale our food security initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in program management, community engagement, and sustainable agriculture practices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the success of initiatives such as urban agriculture, school feeding programs, and farmer training.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Plan, implement, and monitor food security programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate logistics for initiatives like the LunchBox Program, sustainable farming workshops, and food distribution events.
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently.

Community Engagement

  • Work closely with community leaders, local stakeholders, and beneficiaries to understand needs and adapt programs accordingly.
  • Foster partnerships with local farmers, NGOs, and government agencies to enhance program reach and impact.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop and implement metrics to assess program effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Prepare detailed reports on program outcomes, successes, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.

Capacity Building

  • Organize and deliver training sessions for farmers on sustainable agriculture, crop diversification, and climate-resilient practices.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to program participants.

Advocacy and Awareness

  • Advocate for food security policies that address systemic inequities in Black communities.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to promote program impact and raise awareness through reports, social media, and events.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, international development, environmental science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in program coordination or management, ideally in food security or agricultural development.
    • Proven track record in community-based project implementation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
    • Cultural competence and ability to work effectively in diverse settings.
    • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, food systems, and climate adaptation strategies.
  • Technology: Familiarity with project management tools and data analysis software
